Climate change: are we going to make it?

A few weeks ago, I flipped through Al Gore's book. Summary: the prognosis is not good. We're in a *lot* of trouble, and we'd better do something about climate change. Quickly.

Since then, I've been reading about the impact of climate change on our world. The Green movement is gathering steam, and more and more companies are jumping on the bandwagon. Is that going to be enough, though?

John Doerr doesn't think so.

I think the film that he made with the same name had much more impact than the book. Maybe its me, but then i've always felt that actions speak louder than words! Informative video that you put in the blog!

@Abhilash

If you think about it, all the consequences of climate change we have seen in the last 30 odd years are happening at lightning speed relative to the age of the earth.

In the case of many of these effects (for example, if you look at how fast the glaciers are receding), the change is accelerating. There is no reason that I know of to believe that climate change will not cause serious consequences within our own lifetimes. Consider, for example, that the next hurricane season is widely predicted to be the most violent ever on record.

Better not wait for children before taking action :)
